Day 4: Brussels

We're staying in a very convenient part of Brussels and within walking distance to all the sights and delicious food. Belgian waffles everywhere...

The Bourse

Hanging out at the City Building

On the way to the Royal Palace:

Che's Habana Cafe:

At the Botanic Gardens

Sights around the City

It's best not to generalize about whole cities much less countries based on a couple of days in each but why not...I loved Amsterdam's canals and compact buildings squeezing into every available inch. The people we dealt with (except our guesthouse hosts) were not particularly helpful. When we asked for directions, they would point vaguely in the right direction but not offer any details or instructions. But, the culture seemed tolerant (drugs, sex, and rock and roll).

In Brussels, the people were much more helpful (except for our guesthouse host). The buildings were expansive and opulent and filled space but left open areas too. Yet, a little more rigid. There seemed to be more rules that were hard to understand: don't park here; this price doesn't apply to that item; this food is not available here.

Now, on to Luxembourg...
