Bayamo, Wednesday, 4/24

We took a CUC bus (7 CUCs each, roughly $7) primarily catering to foreigners from Santiago to the next town along the way, Bayamo. Here are some sights along the way.

Our Santiago host had called a Bayamo casa particular host who sent a bici-taxi driver to meet us as we got off the truck. Bayamo is a cute, quiet, low-key town with very friendly people. People here seem to talk faster than in Santiago.

Street food is available for one peso national (about 4 cents).

The little park by the river is beautiful but deserted.

My lunch was 3 pesos (12 cents).
Here I am with the John Lennon statue at Los Beatles. The two local guys who were eager to show Alisa around didn't know all of the Beatle names or which statue was whose (Alisa is also too young to know.) but we all could sing Beatle songs together.
